From 1 to 9 March 2025, Women’s Sheds across Australia are coming together to celebrate Women’s Shed Week—a time to recognise the incredible contributions of Women’s Sheds in fostering community, learning, and empowerment. Running annually to coincide with International Women’s Day on 8 March, this special week highlights the impact Women’s Sheds have on the lives of women across the country.
What is Women’s Shed Week?
Women’s Shed Week is an opportunity to raise awareness, celebrate achievements, and encourage more women to get involved. Women’s Sheds are welcoming, inclusive spaces where women of all ages and backgrounds can come together to share skills, support each other, and engage in meaningful activities. From woodworking and metalwork to crafting, gardening, and social projects, Women’s Sheds help members learn new skills, build confidence, and form lifelong friendships.
How to Get Involved
There are many ways to take part in Women’s Shed Week and show your support for this growing movement:
🔨 Visit Your Local Women’s Shed – If you’ve never been to a Women’s Shed before, now is the perfect time to check one out. Many sheds are hosting special events, open days, and workshops throughout the week. Check out our map to find your closest Women’s Shed.
💬 Share Your Story – What does your Women’s Shed mean to you? Whether you’ve learned a new skill, made lasting friendships, or found a place of belonging, we’d love to hear your experiences. Share on social media using #WomensShedWeek.

The Impact of Women’s Sheds
Women’s Sheds play a crucial role in promoting mental well-being, skill-sharing, and community connection. They provide a supportive space where women can come together to tackle challenges, develop new interests, and contribute to their local communities. The benefits of being part of a Women’s Shed go beyond practical skills—many members find a sense of belonging, purpose, and friendship that enriches their lives.
Looking Ahead to 2026
With Women’s Sheds continuing to grow across Australia, we are already looking forward to Women’s Shed Week 2026, which will take place from 28 February to 8 March. This movement is gaining momentum, and we encourage more communities to establish Women’s Sheds and provide more opportunities for women to connect, create, and inspire.
